How to become a locksmith
Locksmiths are responsible for making duplicate keys, repairing various types of locks and installing new locks at homes and businesses. Certification Process Locksmithing
A locksmithing certificate program is composed of four or five courses, depend on the school, and location. These courses will include training in combination locks, modern alarms, automotive locks an Ignition switches, high-security locks key duplicating machines, and new key generation. Lessons are composed of exams and practical exercises that test a student's ability in a particular area of locksmithing. Programs begin with a foundation course that introduces the basics of locks and lock mechanisms. Students learn how to differentiate locks based on manufacturer and type. This knowledge allows would-be locksmiths to quickly assess how a lock can be opened.
